The Method
The most important test of Kung Fu training is practical usage. We are lucky to have inherited the three treasures of the Shaolin tradition: Kung Fu, Chi Kung, and Meditation. At Legacy Shaolin, I want you to be able to use what you learn not just for effective self defense but to enhance your daily life.

Kung Fu literally translates to "skill cultivation." The 'kung' of Kung Fu refers to the underlying power, accuracy, flexibility, speed, and all the other qualities that make martial arts work. Through Shaolin Kung Fu training, you will build up strong arms, powerful legs, and a solid core, besides fast decision making, correct response, and an iron will that will give you a boost in all aspects of your life. Shaolin Kung Fu builds up every part of your body as a unified whole. Stances, flexibility drills, and dynamic footwork are just a few of the fundamental exercises we teach to train your 'kung.' Combat drills emphasize the Sixteen Sequence Sparring Methodology to train you in the basic skills necessary for success. Remember, victory comes from 5% learning and 95% practice!

Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung is the art of cultivating your vital energy through coordinating your movements, breathing, and mind. Daily practice will rebuild you from the inside out and help you attain good health, vitality, and peak performance in anything you do. The great Southern Shaolin grandmaster Ho Fatt Nam said that if you want to achieve the height of Kung Fu, you must practice Chi Kung, and if you want to reach the height of Chi Kung, you must practice Meditation.

Achieve a clear mind. The Meditation we teach at Legacy Shaolin comes from the Shaolin Chan tradition and incorporates both dynamic movements such as martial meditation, as well as tranquil meditation such as Standing Zen and Silent Sitting. At the basic level, you will learn to be calm and peaceful in your daily life. At the advanced level, you will achieve spiritual joy and a zest for life regardless of your religion or spirituality.
